Keynote Speaker

MaryEllen Vogt, Ed.D., is Professor Emerita of Education at California State University, Long Beach. She is Director and lead reading specialist for the Literacy Intervention & Enrichment program for a local nonprofit. Dr. Vogt received her doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley, and is author/co-author of numerous articles, chapters, and books for teachers and administrators, including the SIOP series. Her research interests include literacy intervention, teacher change and development, and disciplinary literacy development for multilingual learners.

Marybelle Marrero-Colón is the Associate Director of Professional Development at the Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL), She joined CAL in 20212, where she oversees and provides professional development services and activities in the SIOP Model, What’s Different about Teaching Reading to English Learners, Multi-Tiered System of Support, and other second language learner topics.
