Date & Time: Wednesday, November 19, 2025 | 04:30–05:30 PM (MST)
Event Description:
Using a multilingual approach for teaching in bilingual K–12 settings has been proven effective for reaching bilingual and emergent bilingual students and promoting biliteracy across academic content areas. Translanguaging, as a multilingual pedagogical teaching approach, has gained momentum across the nation—yet training on practical translanguaging strategies remains limited.
In this interactive, hands-on conversation, participants will:
• Explore what translanguaging is and its role in biliteracy development
• Recognize and adopt three essential types of learning objectives in bilingual or EMI classrooms:
— Content objectives
— Language objectives
— Translanguaging objectives
This workshop will provide actionable strategies for integrating translanguaging into classroom practice to support bilingual learners more effectively.
