Professional Background
Alissa has been an English language professional since 2000, teaching at universities and institutes in Ecuador, Kuwait, Egypt, and the United States. She holds a master’s degree in TESOL from Colorado State University and a DELTA qualification from the University of Cambridge. She has also served as an English Language Specialist for the U.S. Department of State.

Her leadership experience includes coordinating community-based English language programs, developing online teacher education courses, and serving on curriculum committees and a local TESOL board. She is currently involved in professional development initiatives focused on English Medium Instruction (EMI) and the integration of AI tools for educators.

AZTESOL Involvement
Alissa has been a member of AZTESOL since Fall 2015 and has participated in conferences and a wide range of professional development events.

As a board member, her goals are to:

  1. Serve as a liaison between AZTESOL and members in the Central region

  2. Build on AZTESOL’s strong tradition of professional development by encouraging active participation in conferences, workshops, and initiatives that advance the field

  3. Strengthen K–12 educators’ engagement and representation in AZTESOL events
