Session Description:
This session provides actionable strategies to support multilingual writers in the First-Year College composition classroom. We will explore the unique challenges multilingual students face, share culturally relevant practices, and introduce instructional tools that foster an inclusive learning environment. Participants will leave with practical techniques to empower multilingual writers, help enhance their writing skills, and celebrate the diverse perspectives they bring to the classroom.

Speaker’s bio:
Dr. Sara Amani is a Professor of Multilingual Composition/Specialist at Arizona Western College and the AZTESOL Southwest Arizona Regional Representative. She has a PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, an MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), and a BA in English Language and Literature from Ferdowsi University, Iran, along with a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) from New Zealand. With teaching experience spanning Iran, New Zealand, Australia, and the USA, Dr. Amani brings a wealth of intercultural knowledge and diverse perspectives to her research and instructional pedagogy. She also serves as the TEDxAWC Director/Licensee, where she promotes impactful ideas and stories from her community.
