Action Alert: Repeal English-Only

Action Alert: Repeal English-Only

As English language professionals, we know the English-only methods mandated by Proposition 203 don’t work.

HCR2001 (introduced by Rep. Fillmore, LD 16) would refer the repeal of Proposition 203 to the 2020 ballot and allow districts to use evidence-based best practices for English language teaching. The bill has broad support across parties and demographics. Learn more about HCR2001.

However, House Rules Chairman, Rep. Kern (LD 20) is refusing to pass the bill out of the Rules Committee.  This will kill the bill.

Take Action!

Suggested script: “Good morning, I am an ESL teacher/professor/researcher/etc.  Research shows that English-only policies are damaging and ineffective for English learners.  Please do what’s right for Arizona English learners and pass HCR2001 out of the House Rules committee.  Arizona voters deserve to have their voices heard on the repeal of Arizona’s English-only law.”
