Would you like to play a greater role in the ELT community in Arizona and have a lasting influence on your colleagues and the future of our field?
Do you want to contribute your skills and passion to helping educators connect, learn, and grow?
Are you interested in broadening your professional experience, networking with teachers all across the state and region, and adding a unique and valuable experience to your list of accomplishments?
If your answer is yes, consider joining the AZTESOL Board! We are an all-volunteer group that meets 5-6 times each year (three in person and three virtual meetings online) to plan conferences, discuss political developments affecting our field, make decisions about funding, guide our newsletter and website, and carry out all of the “behind-the-scenes” activities necessary to make AZTESOL a successful organization and affiliate. We currently or soon will have openings for the following positions on our board:
The Secretary takes the minutes of all AZTESOL Board meetings, writes summaries of the meetings for the website, and keeps other records and documents related to the organization’s operation on file (except for those that fall under the direct responsibility of other board positions). This person is also responsible for ensuring that board meetings proceed in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order.
The Website Manager maintains and updates this website, posting new announcements, deleting old ones, and keeping all information and links current. This position requires close and timely communication with all other board members. In recent years, the website manager has also organized online registration for AZTESOL’s annual state conference.
Northern Region Representative
Regional representatives organize one mini-conference each spring in their area of the state (in this case, usually in Flagstaff). They also serve as an informal liaison between AZTESOL and local institutions, helping to publicize AZTESOL events and promote awareness and interest in joining the organization.
If any of these positions interest you, please send an e-mail with an attached resumé and cover letter to our Past President Marjaneh Gilpatrick (click on the link) and we’ll get back to you soon.
