If your answer is yes, consider joining the AZTESOL Board! We are an all-volunteer group that meets 5-6 times each year (three in person and three virtual meetings online) to plan conferences, discuss political developments affecting our field, make decisions about funding, guide our newsletter and website, and carry out all of the “behind-the-scenes” activities necessary to make AZTESOL a successful organization and affiliate. We currently or soon will have openings for the following positions on our board:

The Newsletter Editor oversees publication of the now-entirely-digital AZTESOL News that goes out to all of our members. This person also establishes and maintains an editorial board that helps him/her to solicit, review, and edit submissions.
The Business Manager is chiefly responsible for contacting and organizing publishers and other vendors to exhibit at our annual state conference. Other responsibilities include seeking advertisers for the AZTESOL News, our conference programs, and obtaining contributions for prizes that are raffled off at our conferences.
The Treasurer maintains all financial records for AZTESOL and reports on the organization’s financial status at all board meetings. This officer also receives and deposits payments, maintains our bank accounts, disburses funds, reimburses approved expenses, coordinates expenditures, prepares invoices, files annual reports with the IRS and the Arizona Corporation Commission, handles all financial correspondence, and assists with conference registration.
Public Relations Chair
The Public Relations Chair promotes AZTESOL activities and opportunities to the membership and the general public through the use of our social media accounts and tools (such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) on a regular basis. He or she also cultivates contacts in the state legislature, Governor’s office, and Department of Education, and helps maintain our archive of historical documents.
Rules and Resolutions Chair
The Rules and Resolutions Chair ensures that board meetings proceed according to Robert’s Rules of Order and determines whether decisions by the Board conform to AZTESOL’s written Constitution. This person also presides over any amendments to our constitution or organizational operating handbook.
